Life in NC...
Do I need to tell you just how much I despise these creatures? I have the creepy crawlies just thinking about them. Well, we have one! Yes, a yucky snake lives in our woods. Here's how it went down...
Chad was clearing brush in the wooded area behind our house this afternoon. Cameron was napping, Nate was outside with his daddy, and I brought a book to read in the beautiful outdoors. On our way back to the house a snake was in the path. It was scarred and very still. My sweet husband wanted to catch it so 'Nate could see the snake'. This snake was pretty small and looked like a harmless garter snake. Chad grabbed it by the tail as it attempted an escape. Then the snake bit him! Well, duh. He did grab the little thing by the tail! What surprised Chad was that the snake had fangs...apparently garter snakes only 'gum' when they try to bite and it doesn't hurt. I couldn't tell you since I've never tried to catch a snake (and don't plan on it), but that's what Chad said.
We had to go inside and look up snakes on the internet to make sure it wasn't poisonous. We concluded it was a non-poisonous black racer. Here is a picture. And yes, that snake is still loose in our woods.
Oh, I almost forgot. Chad had another dangerous episode in walmart tonight. We purchased a patio set for our deck. Chad was going to get the box down--can't be that heavy, right? We almost had it and then it landed on Chad's head on the way down! Poor guy. Afterwards we noted the 'team lift' warning on the box. It weighed 250 lbs.
Hope this next week is a little less dangerous since Heather and Missy are visiting at our house. Can hardly wait to see them! And Honey, glad you're still with us. Love you.
