Honey...Help!!!

This morning started like any other. The boys were on the brink of starvation, me still in my jammies, Nathan dressed and playing, and Cameron just beginning to eat. About this time Chad calls and asks if the trash is out to the road. Of course it is not, and since we missed trash pickup last week, it had to get out. So I throw shoes on and head out, closing the door behind me so Nate doesn't follow. Surely it won't take but a minute to take the can to the road. Right?

Now keep in mind Nathan hasn't had breakfast and Cameron was rudely interrupted at the beginning of his breakfast. Two very unhappy little boys. As I'm walking back to the house I realize I shut the door and locked the kids inside. No phone, no keys, in my pj's, and did I mention my hair looked like I stuck my finger in a socket! So I hurry to the back door to confirm my suspicions. Yep, door locked and Cameron crying. Poor thing! Nathan was ok, just playing in the kitchen.

I headed to the neighbors and called Chad. Honey...Help! Now, Chad works about 20 minutes away from home. So I stood on the deck and talked to Nate through the windows in the dining room. He didn't know what to do. Our neighbor is a nice grandpa and former marine. He came over and tried to help me get into the house, but of course I had locked every window and door. He offered to break a window for me if I needed to get to the boys quickly. I thanked him and continued to watch them from the window.

Chad came home in record time (he told me later he sped, used his flashers, and ran a red light to save the day). Way to go, Honey! The boys were fine. Nathan was a bit upset-he asked for a cookie through his tears. Maybe cookies aren't the best breakfast but I felt it was the least I could do for the little fella. Cameron ate his breakfast too. Things were all better. Later in the day I took the boys to the mall and the park. Nathan had a blast:) It was a beautiful day.

Hope you all have a great Friday.

PS The garbage truck never came today...isn't that ironic?

I'm glad that you and the boys are alright after such an event. Just think it gave you a funny story to tell.

I know the frustration. I did it to myself just the other week. I was in a hurry to get the kids to school and get to my board meeting and walked out and shut the door with my keys on the counter. No cell phone. All the kids were in the van. (To bad all but Ian can open the door) Anyway I ran next door to my neighbor and called Andy who was going in to a meeting that very minute. He gave his keys to one of his co-workers and asked her to bring them to me. SO Sherri saved the day. I was late to my board meeting but suprise of suprises they started without me. :/ Anyway all that to say I'm with you girl. Love to you and the boys. Looking foward to seeing you soon.
